Pitcher Dakody Clemmer of Corvallis
Corvallis Knights pitchers Dakody Clemmer of Central Arizona College and Slater Lee of Cal Poly tossed back-to-back complete game shutouts vs. the Kitsap BlueJackets at Goss Stadium July 9-10 to earn WCL co-Player of the Week honors for the week of July 6-12.
Both games were 1-0 victories for the Knights who went 5-1 on the week to improve their record to 15-15.
Clemmer, a sophomore-to-be at Central Arizona, twirled his gem on Thursday, July 9,;and only allowed 3 hits while walking one and striking out 9.
Lee, a junior-to-be at Cal Poly, followed Clemmer's masterpiece with his own whitewashing of the BlueJackets; allowing 4 hits while walking none and striking out 3.
In a contest that lasted 1 hour and 48 minutes, Clemmer threw 103 pitches and faced 31 batters. The following night, Lee worked even quicker as his game lasted 1 hour and 43 minutes and Slater only faced 29 batters while tossing 97 pitches.
This past spring as a frosh, Clemmer went 6-3 with a 3.38 ERA at Central Arizona. Dakody leads Corvallis in appearances with 10 and innings pitched with 37 this summer. The right-hander from Vancouver, Washington has posted a 2-1 record and 3.64 ERA and registered two saves for the Knights.
Lee went 1-1 over 10 appearances and 3 starts this past season as a sophomore at Cal Poly. The Carlsbad, California native is 1-0 with a 2.14 ERA over 6 appearances and 4 starts with the Knights.
Lee's Cal Poly teammate redshirt frosh Austin Dondanville of Victoria also turned in a stellar week earning two wins over two starts for the red-hot HarbourCats, who were 6-0 for the week, as the right-hander from Walnut Creek, California only allowed one run over 11 innings pitched while striking out 9 and giving up 13 hits.
