Bend outfielder Billy King of Oregon State went 8-for-19 with two doubles, a home run and 8 RBIs this past week to lead the Elks to their first WCL title, as Bend scored 43 runs over 4 games and swept through the WCL playoffs.

King's impressive post-season earned the junior-to-be West Coast League Player of the Week honors for August 10-17.

Billy saved his best game for last as the left-handed hitting slugger blasted a grand slam and two-run double last night in the Elks' season-ending 10-4 home win over Kelowna. The victory gave Bend its first WCL title in front of a Vince Genna Stadium crowd of 2,543.

During the regular season, King hit .336 with 8 doubles for the Elks.

This past spring at OSU, the native of Anacortes, Washington hit .271 with 7 doubles and 21 RBIs.
