The West Coast League Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, as announced by league president Donnie Marbut, are redshirt freshman catcher Chris Ceballos of the Yakima Valley Pippins and sophomore pitcher Kris Jackson of the Bend Elks for the week of June 3-5.
Jackson, who pitched at Chemeketa CC the past two years, was part of a combined no-hitter on Saturday as Jackson and lefty Logan Hatley of Linn-Benton CC did not allow a single hit in the Elks 6-0 home win vs. the Corvallis Knights. Jackson pitched 8 innings, walked two and struck out 6. Bend starting pitching dominated Corvallis as the Elks starters threw 22 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball over the three-game series.
This past spring, Jackson shined at Chemeketa earning 2016 first-team all-NWAC Southern Region honors.
Ceballos led Yakima Valley to a series sweep at Wenatchee. The Cal State Fullerton catcher led an offense that scored 23 runs over its opening three games, going 5-for-13 with two walks, 4 doubles and 4 RBIs.
