The West Coast League Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, as announced by league president Brian Sloan, are Taiwan third baseman Po-Hao Huang of the Victoria HarbourCats and UC Riverside sophomore pitcher Trenton Toplikar of the Corvallis Knights for the week of August 7-15.

This summer's final Pitcher of the Week was junior-to-be right-hander Trenton Toplikar of the West Coast League champion Corvallis Knights. Toplikar started two games at Goss Stadium in the postseason, tossing 7 solid innings in each outing to earn wins in both starts.

He faced Yakima Valley on Wednesday, August 9 and then came back to pitch the WCLCS finale last night vs. the Victoria HarbourCats. In total, he threw 14 innings; walking only two and striking out 8 while posting a 1.93 ERA. Corvallis won his starts against the Pippins 8-4 and Victoria 4-2.

During the regular season, Toplikar went 2-0 with a 5.06 ERA over 6 appearances and 5 starts. He only walked one batter in 26.2 innings pitched while striking out 26.

This past spring, Toplikar made 17 appearances and 2 starts for the Highlanders, going 2-3 while posting a 7.42 ERA.

Victoria's Po-Hao Huang came up clutch for the HarbourCats in the playoffs, as the left-handed hitter belted a homer and collected 5 RBI in Victoria's North Divisional Series clinching 11-5 win at Kelowna on Wednesday, August 9. Then this past Saturday night, Huang thrilled the HarbourCat faithful with a walk-off single to beat the Corvallis Knights 5-4.

For the week, Huang went 9-for-17 (.368) with a homer and 7 RBIs.

For the summer, Huang hit .280 over 100 regular-season at bats with 7 doubles, 1 homer and 13 RBIs.
