WCCBL names Dave Perez its first Supervisor of Umpires

10/18/2007 9:58 AM -

Wenatchee, Washington, October 18, 2007 - West Coast Collegiate League president Dan Segel announced today that the league has appointed Dave Perez as its first Supervisor of Umpires.

"The league is thrilled to have Dave as our first Supervisor of Umpires. He and his umpiring group will elevate the league's professionalism and better our product. He's a quality administrator and umpire and is a welcome addition to our leadership team," said Segel.

Perez was contracted to put together a pool of best-of-breed umpires to work WCCBL games. This off-season, Dave will choose the region's top 14-16 officials to be the league's first dedicated umpires.

Dave is responsible for recruiting, evaluating, training, managing, assigning and paying the league's umpires. Dave will work directly with Commissioner Jim Dietz to review and resolve any incident and/or ejection reports filed by team officials, managers and umpires.

WCCBL two-man umpiring crews will work no more than three series at the same location as crews will rotate WCCBL sites.

Perez has umpired in the league since the WCCBL's inception and has worked Pac-10 baseball games for 29 years. While not officiating, Mr. Perez is the CEO of the Eugene Family YMCA. Dave is also a charter member of the Northwest Collegiate Umpires Association and the past president of the organization.

Dave has worked for the YMCA for 35 years and he and his wife Claire have three grown children - Danielle, Tony and Kellie.

The WCCBL is dedicated to player development, player exposure and to providing affordable summer entertainment to its member communities.
