The West Coast League is pleased to announce the addition of Jonathan Hodgson to its marketing communications team. Hodgson will act as the WCL's Coordinator of Online Communications.

He joins Chris King, the league's Director of Online Communications, as a content creator for WCL online communications. Jonathan's focus will be writing stories for the league website.

Hodgson, a native of Okotoks, Alberta, is currently the Communications Director for the Victoria HarbourCats of the WCL where he is responsible for the team's press releases, website and social media in addition to serving as play-by-play broadcaster. He also contributes to baseball operations as a baseball advisor.

Prior to coming to Victoria in 2016, Jonathan worked for the Okotoks Dawgs of the summer-collegiate Western Major Baseball League for eight years (2008-15) in similar capacities as broadcaster and communications assistant responsible for website and social media content. He also served a tenure as a content contributor to the WMBL website.

Jonathan has been a contributor to the Canadian Baseball Network since 2009, working closely with Bob Elliott, recipient of the 2012 J.G. Taylor Spink Award from the National Baseball Hall of Fame for meritorious contributions to baseball writing.

Veteran Blue Jays radio broadcaster Jerry Howarth is also one of his close friends and mentors.

Hodgson has worked multiple assignments for the Toronto Blue Jays, covering events on the club’s 2015 Winter Tour, as well as the Blue Jays Honda Super Camp in Okotoks (2013-15) and Victoria (2016).

Jonathan is the Communications Director for the Catching Academy, an instructional organization based in the San Francisco Bay Area dedicated to the development of elite defensive catchers.

"We are thrilled to welcome Jonathan to the team," said Chris King. "He's done a great job in Victoria and is committed to growing interest in the league and taking it to new heights."

The West Coast League is the premier summer collegiate baseball league west of the Mississippi.  The 13-year-old, 11-team, professionally operated wood-bat league located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest features pro prospects from major conferences across the nation and an unparalleled history out west of great fan and player experiences in addition to the best summer weather in North America. In 2016, 88 players with WCL experience were selected in the MLB June draft, and more than 230 WCL alums appeared in affiliated professional baseball including 28 in the major leagues, such as 2015 home-run leader Chris Davis (Baltimore), 2015 NL Rookie of the Year runner-up Matt Duffy (Tampa Bay) and rising star pitchers Matt Andriese (Tampa Bay), Matt Boyd (Detroit) and James Paxton (Seattle). Overall member attendance was 379,611 this past season.
