Brewers prospect Taylor Williams pitched for Cowlitz in 2012, leading the Black Bears in appearances with 17 and saves with 9 while striking out 38 over 29.2 innings pitched and posting a 2.12 ERA.
Former Cowlitz Black Bears southpaw Domenic Mazza of UC Santa Barbara made South Atlantic League history in the spring of 2017 by tossing the league's first perfect game for the Augusta GreenJackets. The GreenJackets are a Class A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants.
Mazza, a native of Walnut Creek, California, pitched for the Black Bears following his frosh spring at UCSB in 2013. He went 4-2 with a 3.61 ERA over 11 appearances and 8 starts.

Big Man on Campus: Chris Castellanos, Pitcher, Stanford Cardinal
Senior southpaw Chris Castellanos worked his way into Stanford's rotation in 2015 as a sophomore and has been a starter for the team since. He continued his progression during the following summer with the Cowlitz Black Bears where he went 5-1 with a 2.62 ERA. Castellanos second season in Cowlitz was masterful as the lefty tossed 53 innings and only walked 9 and struck out 49. His summer performance earned Chris second-team all-WCL honors.
Story Field at Lower Columbia College in Longview, Wash. was remodeled for the 2010 Cowlitz Black Bears inaugural season. Amenities include Party Suites and the Bob's Sporting Goods Party Deck in left field, the Home Plate Club in the grandstand area and picnic tables and a kids playground sponsored by Kelso, Washington's Red Lion Inn.
