Five West Coast League players were named to Perfect Game’s Summer Collegiate All-America teams, which were released on August 23, 2018.

WCL co-Pitcher of the Year Landen Bourassa of University of San Francisco earned second-team summer collegiate honors. The Corvallis Knights ace and senior-to-be USF Don tied for the league lead in wins with 5 and posted a league-low 1.95 ERA.

Portland Pickles southpaw Brad McVay of University of Portland was a third team selection. The lefty tied for the WCL lead in wins with 5, going 5-0, while posting a miniscule 1.15 ERA (did not have enough innings to qualify for the ERA title). The sophomore-to-be struck out 47 over 39 innings pitched.

Three West Coast Leaguers earned honorable mention honors including second baseman Gio Diaz of Portland (St. Mary’s), utility man Connor McCord of Wenatchee (Western Oregon) and relief pitcher Cal Hehnke of Kelowna (Nebraska-Omaha).

Five former West Coast League players earned honors as well, with former Bellingham Bells star Austin Shenton of Florida International being named Perfect Game/Rawlings Summer Collegiate Player of the Year. Two other former Bells were named, first baseman Jake Vieth of Gonzaga (second team) and outfielder Kyle Stowers of Stanford (third team). Former Pippins pitcher Ryan Garcia of UCLA (third team) and ex-HarbourCat catcher Shane McGuire of San Diego (honorable mention) were also honored.

The 14-year-old, 11-team, professionally operated wood-bat league located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest showcases pro prospects from major national conferences from June through the middle of August. Overall member attendance was 412,392 last summer, an increase of nearly nine percent year to year.
