PORTLAND, Ore. – The West Coast League’s regular season wraps up Wednesday night, and while most of the playoff picture is set, the final two spots in the North Division are still up for grabs among the Nanaimo NightOwls, Kelowna Falcons, and Edmonton Riverhawks.

Tuesday night, the Corvallis Knights – who’d already clinched their 19th straight postseason berth – locked up the South’s second-half title and No. 2 seed with an 11-8, extra-inning win against the first-half champion Ridgefield Raptors. Friday, the Knights will open their championship quest with a game in Walla Walla before the teams resume their series Saturday in Corvallis. Meanwhile, the Raptors will renew their local rivalry with the Portland Pickles Friday night, then make the short drive north to host the Pickles Saturday.

In the North, Nanaimo and Kelowna each control their own destiny, as both sport 29-24 records, one game better than Edmonton. Nanaimo, wrapping up at home against Kamloops, is in with a win. The same is true for Kelowna, visiting Port Angeles.

But should Nanaimo or Kelowna lose while Edmonton wins in Bellingham, the Riverhawks would grab the fourth spot via tiebreaker. Should Nanaimo and Kelowna both lose while Edmonton wins, all three would finish in a flat-footed 29-25 tie, and it’s Edmonton and Nanaimo who advance on tiebreakers, with Kelowna out.
