34 WCCBL alums picked in the 2008 MLB June draft

34 collegiate prospects that played for WCCBL clubs were selected in the 2008 MLB June draft held Thursday, June 5 and Friday, June 6. The first WCCBL pick was 2007 All-WCCBL pitcher Stephen Fife of University Utah. Fife pitched last summer for the Bellingham Bells. The right-hander went 3-0 with a 1.59 ERA over 8 appearances and 5 starts. Other 3rd round selections were Corvallis’ Brent Morel of Cal Poly SLO and Kelowna’s Sawyer Carroll of Kentucky. Carroll was recently named All-SEC and All-America. Morel led the Big West in RBI with 60.

The Corvallis Knights were the WCCBL club most represented in the draft as 11 Knights’ alums were chosen. The Wenatchee AppleSox were the next most represented WCCBL team with 8.
