The Bellingham Bells captured their first West Coast League crown with a thrilling 3-2 win over the WCL defending-champion Corvallis Knights at Joe Martin Field before a boisterous crowd of 2,821.
The Bells made an early three-run lead stand and closer David Bigelow of Gonzaga shut the door on Corvallis in the ninth recording the final out on a ground out which set-off a celebration that Bellingham will remember for many years to come.
Bellingham finished the season with a league best mark of 37-17 and came back from a 1-0 deficit in the WCLCS to beat the Knights two games to one.
Reliever Moises Ceja of UCLA earned the championship game win.
