The Bend Elks hosted the National Champion Oregon State Beavers scrimmage this past Saturday before a crowd of 1,757 at Vince Genna Stadium. The Back 2 to Bend Fall Classic was played on a picturesque afternoon that featured a glimpse of the 2008 Oregon State ballclub. There was a deja vu quality to Saturday’s scrimmage as OSU showed up as National Champions, on a beautful October day, before an enthusiastic crowd. Didn’t this already happen? It sure did. Last fall, the Elks hosted OSU (fresh off their first National Championship) before a large crowd, on another glorious October day in Central Oregon. It’s no surprise the Beavers and Elks plan to make this a fall tradition. Bend is Big on the Beavers!
