Cody Hawken, Knights

The West Coast League’s Moss Adams Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, as announced by league commissioner Rob Neyer, are University of Portland senior-to-be outfielder Cody Hawken of the Corvallis Knights and USC sophomore-to-be pitcher John Beller of the Portland Pickles for the week of June 11-17.

Hawken led Corvallis to a 5-1 week, as the right-handed hitter went 10-for-21 with 8 runs scored, 3 doubles, a triple, 3 stolen bases and 7 RBIs. Cody currently leads the WCL with a .433 batting average.

This past spring, Hawken was named first-team all-West Coast Conference as he hit .316 with 10 homers and 36 RBIs for the Portland Pilots.

Beller gave up only one hit and no runs over two appearances and 8.1 innings pitched, including a start and relief appearance, while striking out 11. The lefty earned a three-inning save June 11 vs. Wenatchee in the Pickles 3-0 win.

As a frosh, Beller made 17 appearances and 3 starts, going 3-1 with a 2.73 ERA while striking out 45 over 49.2 innings pitched for the Trojans.
