Former WCLer Marco Gonzales Pitches Cards to NLCS

Former Wenatchee AppleSox pitcher Marco Gonzales of the St. Louis Cardinals earned a playoff series-clinching win last night vs. Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers. It was Gonzales second win of the series, both in games started by the likely NL Cy Young Award winner Kershaw. In each appearance, Marco tossed one scoreless inning of relief, and earned wins after the Cards made seventh-inning comebacks vs. Kershaw first at Dodger Stadium and last night at home, as St. Louis won 10-9 and 3-2. St. Louis now advances to play San Francisco in the NLCS.

This past Sunday, ex-Corvallis Knights pitcher Bud Norris tossed 6.1 innings of shutout baseball to earn the win in the Baltimore Orioles playoff series-clinching win over Detroit. The O’s swept the Tigers to advance to the ALCS vs. Kansas City.
