Louisville Slugger Frosh All-Americans

The 2014 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American team selected by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper was recently released by CBN. The list includes two current West Coast League players – catcher Aaron Barnett of the Victoria Harbourcats and two-way player Trenton Brooks of the Wenatchee AppleSox – and WCL alum AJ Balta of Oregon, who played for the Medford Rogues last summer.

Barnett starred this past spring at catcher for the Pepperdine Waves. The Waves almost made their way to Omaha as Pepperdine was eliminated by TCU in the Fort Worth Super Regional. Aaron is currently hitting .333 for the HarbourCats.

Brooks pitched and played outfield for the Nevada-Reno Wolfpack during the spring. Trenton is currently hitting .287 with 2 HR and 11 RBIs for the Sox. He’s also recorded two saves for Wenatchee.

Balta was selected as a first baseman. The future Oregon Duck got his first taste of college baseball last summer with the Rogues where he played infield and outfield. AJ led Medford in runs (26) and stolen bases (12) in 2013 while hitting .280 over 164 at bats.
