WCCBL announces DeMarini All-Performance and Rawlings Gold Glove teams

On the eve of the MLB World Series between the Colorado Rockies and Boston Red Sox – showcasing two alums of WCCBL clubs, Rockies’ starting pitcher Jeff Francis (Bellingham Bells) and Red Sox starting centerfielder Jacoby Ellsbury (Bend Elks) – the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League announced its 2007 DeMarini All-Performance and Rawlings Gold Glove teams. The awards honor the league’s top hitters and fielders by position. This year’s teams featured four players who excelled both offensively and defensively and were named to both teams; Wenatchee third baseman Hawkins Gebbers (pictured) of Biola, Corvallis first baseman Jim Murphy of Washington State, Moses Lake outfielder Steve Tinoco of Long Beach State and Wenatchee outfielder Zach Mandelblatt of Pomona-Pitzer.
