UC Santa Barbara of the Big West and Arizona of the Pac-12 both won Regionals this past weekend. The Gauchos and Wildcats are the last west teams still standing in what started as a 64-team NCAA tournament field, as UCSB won the Nashville Regional and Arizona the Lafayette Regional.
The Gauchos were led by former Kitsap BlueJackets slugger Austin Bush. The sophomore left-handed hitter was named the Nashville Regional tournament MVP. Joining Bush on the all-tournament team was Corvallis Knights alum sophomore shortstop Clayton Fisher.
WCL alum senior Ryan Aguilar of Arizona was named to the Lafayette Regional all-tournament team.
UC Santa Barbara now travels to Louisville to face the Cardinals this Saturday (first pitch is 9 am pdt).
Arizona heads to Mississippi State where they will do battle with the Bulldogs starting this Friday (start time is 2 pm pdt).
