West Coast League All-Star Game to return in 2011 at Goss Stadium, the home of the Corvallis Knights

The West Coast League All-Star Game is back. After a two-season hiatus, the 2011 WCL All-Star Game will be held at Goss Stadium in Corvallis, Oregon on Tuesday, July 26th.

“Our owners decided to reinstate this great showcase event,” said WCL president Ken Wilson in making the announcement. “It’s terrific for our players, and the fans in Corvallis are deserving of an event of this magnitude.”

The West Coast League previously held All-Star Games in Wenatchee (2006), Bellingham (2007) and Moses Lake (2008). Corvallis was selected as the site of the 2011 game after community-wide support from a broad base of leaders, led by Corvallis Mayor Charles Tomlinson, a Knights’ season ticket holder since the team moved to Corvallis in 2007.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be awarded the West Coast League All-Star Game,” said Corvallis Knights team president Dan Segel. “This is a special opportunity to bring together the best of the WCL, and bring community together, and it’s an opportunity to showcase our fine city and its surrounding areas.”

A home run derby featuring the WCL’s top sluggers will be held prior to the game. Immediately following the All-Star Game fans will enjoy a spectacular fireworks show.

Tickets for the 2011 WCL All-Star Game go on sale next week. To order, contact the Corvallis Knights by calling 541-752-5656 or emailing tickets@corvallisknights.com.
