Alums of WCL Teams Excel in MLB

West Coast League alum James Paxton of the Seattle Mariners tossed eight shutout innings vs. Boston yesterday at Safeco Field in the Mariners 5-0 win over the Red Sox. Paxton pitched for the Kelowna Falcons in 2007, and is currently 2-2 with a 3.59 ERA for Seattle.

19 players with experience playing for WCL teams have either appeared in the big leagues this season (2015) or are on 40-man rosters including current big leaguers outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury of the New York Yankees, first baseman Chris Davis of Baltimore, starting pitcher Bud Norris of Baltimore, starting pitcher Jason Hammel of the Chicago Cubs, infielder Eric Sogard of Oakland, catcher Chris Stewart of Pittsburgh, pitcher Marc Rzepczynski of Cleveland, pitcher Blaine Hardy of Detroit, pitcher Jeff Francis of Toronto, outfielder Darrell Ceciliani of the New York Mets, infielder Matt Duffy of San Francisco and catcher Andrew Susac of San Francisco; and 40-man roster players pitcher Jim Henderson of Milwaukee, pitcher Tommy Milone of Minnesota, pitcher Matt Andriese of Tampa Bay, pitcher Chad Smith of Detroit, pitcher Marco Gonzales of St. Louis and outfielder Wynton Bernard of Detroit.
