The West Coast League’s Moss Adams Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, as announced by league commissioner Rob Neyer, are the Springfield Drifters’ Jaylin Rae (Central Arizona) and the Corvallis Knights’ Duke Brotherton (Washington State).

Last week at the plate, Rae went 13 for 22 with two walks for the Drifters. Saturday in Bend, Rae racked up five hits and two RBI in Springfield’s game against the Elks. This spring, the native of Australia hit a team-high .372 for Central Arizona and helped the Vaqueros capture the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I World Series title.

Thursday against the Cowlitz Black Bears, Brotherton tossed five scoreless innings, allowing just one hit with seven strikeouts, in Corvallis’s combined shutout. It’s been a blistering start to the season for the Knights, who have opened their season with nine straight wins. Brotherton, a Mercer Island (Wa.) native who made six relief outings for the WSU Cougars this spring, has not surrendered a run in his two appearances as a Knight.
